| Abstract | This paper presents the results of a pilot distance course in the Use of Remote Sensing for Environmental Studies. It is part of a specialization program for undergraduate professors, in the remote sensing area, using TelEduc (a distance learning environment for teaching courses through the Internet). The main goal of this course is to diffuse the use of remote sensing as content and pedagogical resource to universities, reinforcing the importance of applying new technologies and encouraging professors to disseminate what they have learned among students and colleagues. This pilot course lasted three weeks with an average 12-hour workload per week. The results of the course were surprisingly positive and the students were able to follow the readings and activities proposed successfully, actively interacting with instructors and among themselves. |
